In a perfect world, everyone gets paid for work that they perform for other people.  Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world.  If you have provided labor and material to a property owner, or if you are a subcontractor who has provided labor and material for the benefit of a property owner, you know how important it is to get paid for completed work in a timely manner.  Under certain circumstances, the state of Illinois provides a mechanism to ensure payment of moneys duly owed by means of the Illinois Mechanics Lien Act.
